Quick answer

Knowing the Lord is to be feared, Paul earnestly seeks to persuade people, his sincerity open before God. Reverence for God drives honest, persuasive ministry.

Overview

The 'fear of the Lord' here means reverent awareness of God's judgment, which motivates Paul to persuade others toward the gospel. His conscience is transparent to God, and he hopes equally clear to the Corinthians' consciences. Integrity in ministry flows from accountability to God.
