Quick answer

The angel calls all to fear, glorify, and worship God the Creator, for judgment has come. True reverence for the Maker is the only refuge in the hour of judgment.

Overview

The eternal gospel here takes the form of a call to fear God, give him glory, and worship the Creator of heaven, earth, sea, and springs. Coming as 'the hour of his judgment has come,' it presents worship of the true God as the urgent alternative to beast-worship. To honor the Creator is to find one's true place before the One who will judge all.

Christ at the center

Revelation ends the story with the slain-yet-standing Lamb who is worthy, the Lion of Judah, the Alpha and Omega, the returning King who makes all things new and dwells with his people forever.

How Revelation 14:7 points to him is part of the one story that runs through all Scripture — meet Jesus at the heart of the web, or follow a trail that traces him from Genesis to Revelation.
