Quick answer

All whom the Father gives to Jesus will come to Him, and He will never cast out anyone who comes. This verse joins God's sovereign grace with a tender promise of welcome.

Overview

Jesus teaches that the Father gives a people to the Son, and these will surely come, grounding salvation in God's electing grace. Yet the same verse assures that no one who comes will be rejected. Reformed Christians treasure this balance of divine sovereignty and free, certain welcome to all who believe.

Christ at the center

John declares him plainly: the eternal Word made flesh, the Lamb of God, the great 'I AM' — bread, light, door, shepherd, way, truth, life, resurrection — that you may believe and have life in his name.

How John 6:37 points to him is part of the one story that runs through all Scripture — meet Jesus at the heart of the web, or follow a trail that traces him from Genesis to Revelation.
