Quick answer
God calls the Servant in righteousness to be a covenant for the people and a light for the nations.
Overview
The Lord pledges to hold and keep the Servant, appointing Him as the embodiment of the covenant and a light to the Gentiles. This universal mission reaches beyond Israel to all peoples. Simeon and Paul apply 'a light for the nations' to Christ (Luke 2:32; Acts 13:47), who brings salvation to the world.
