Quick answer

Coming to them merely speaking in tongues would not benefit them apart from revelation, knowledge, prophecy, or teaching. Understandable content is what profits the hearers.

Overview

Paul uses himself as an example: even his ministry would be useless if it brought only unintelligible speech. What benefits the church is intelligible truth, whether revelation, knowledge, prophecy, or teaching. The point reinforces that the value of any contribution in worship lies in its ability to instruct and build up others.
