1 Corinthians 10:13

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide an escape, so that you can stand up under it.

Quick answer

No temptation is beyond what others face, and God faithfully limits it and provides a way of escape. Believers can endure temptation by trusting his faithfulness.

Overview

After warning against presumption, Paul offers comfort: temptation is common to humanity, and God's faithfulness ensures it will never exceed the endurance he supplies. The 'way of escape' is given so that believers can endure, not necessarily avoid, the trial. This verse anchors Christian hope in God's character rather than human strength, pointing to the grace by which Christ enables his people to stand.
