From manna in the wilderness to the bread of life.
God rains down bread from heaven to feed Israel in the desert, teaching that "man shall not live by bread alone." Centuries later Jesus says, "I am the bread of life," takes bread, breaks it, and says, "This is my body" — the true bread come down from heaven.- 1
Manna in the wilderness
Exodus 16:4Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.

Not by bread alone
Deuteronomy 8:3And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

The bread of life
John 6:35And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

This is my body
Matthew 26:26And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.
