From manna in the wilderness to the bread of life.
God rains down bread from heaven to feed Israel in the desert, teaching that "man shall not live by bread alone." Centuries later Jesus says, "I am the bread of life," takes bread, breaks it, and says, "This is my body" — the true bread come down from heaven.- 1
Manna in the wilderness
Exodus 16:4Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from the sky for you, and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in my law, or not.

Deuteronomy 8:3He humbled you, and allowed you to be hungry, and fed you with manna, which you didn’t know, neither did your fathers know; that he might teach you that man does not live by bread only, but man lives by every word that proceeds out of Yahweh’s mouth.

The bread of life
John 6:35Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will not be hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.

Matthew 26:26As they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks for it, and broke it. He gave to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.”
