Quick answer

Christ will send his angels to gather his chosen from every corner of earth and sky. He will lose none of his own.

Overview

At his coming, Jesus gathers all the elect from the whole world, fulfilling the great ingathering promised in Scripture (Deuteronomy 30:4; Isaiah 27:12-13). This is the joyful goal of his return: the complete and final gathering of his redeemed people into his presence. The same Lord who endures the cross will assemble his church in glory, securing every one the Father gave him.

Christ at the center

Mark drives urgently to the cross, showing Jesus the Son of God as the suffering Servant who 'came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.'

How Mark 13:27 points to him is part of the one story that runs through all Scripture — meet Jesus at the heart of the web, or follow a trail that traces him from Genesis to Revelation.
