Quick answer

They must stop saying 'the burden of the LORD,' for each man's own word has become his 'burden,' perverting God's words. They have twisted the message of the living God.

Overview

God forbids the abused phrase because the people have turned their own opinions into supposed oracles, distorting the words of the living God. The charge is that human speech has displaced divine revelation. The verse guards the holiness of God's word against being co-opted to serve human agendas.
