Quick answer

None of the repentant person's past transgressions will be remembered against him; he will live by his righteousness. God fully forgives those who turn to Him.

Overview

God declares that the sins of the truly repentant are not held against them. This gracious forgetting anticipates the new-covenant promise to remember sins no more (Jeremiah 31:34; Hebrews 8:12). It foreshadows the complete pardon found in Christ.
