Quick answer

The singers ministered before the tabernacle with song until Solomon built the temple, serving according to their appointed order. Their worship was both wholehearted and orderly.

Overview

Before the temple was built, the musicians led praise at the tent that housed the ark, faithfully fulfilling their duties in proper sequence. The Chronicler stresses that their service followed a divinely sanctioned order rather than mere spontaneity. True worship honors God both in heartfelt devotion and in fitting reverence and structure.
