Quick answer

Azmaveth oversaw the king's treasuries, and Jonathan managed the stores in the fields, cities, villages, and towers. It begins the list of David's royal stewards.

Overview

The Chronicler turns to those who managed David's personal estate, starting with the central treasuries and the provincial stores. This careful administration of the king's wealth shows the prosperity God granted his reign. The diligence of these stewards models faithful management of what is entrusted to one's care.
