Quick answer
The humble are urged to seek Yahweh, righteousness, and humility, that they may be sheltered in the day of His anger. It matters because it points the way to refuge amid coming judgment.
Overview
This is the heart of Zephaniah's appeal: genuine humility and pursuit of the Lord. The tentative 'it may be' guards against presumption while still holding out real hope of being hidden. It anticipates the gospel pattern, where the humble who seek God find shelter, ultimately in Christ, the true refuge from wrath.
