Overview

David confesses God as the source of life itself and the light by which all light is seen, meaning all true knowledge and joy flow from Him. Apart from God there is neither life nor real understanding. This finds glorious fulfillment in Christ, in whom 'was life, and the life was the light of men' (John 1:4), the Light of the world.
