Quick answer

The spies reported back to Moses, Aaron, and the whole assembly at Kadesh, displaying the land's fruit. The public setting meant the entire nation heard their conclusions.

Overview

Returning to Kadesh in the wilderness of Paran, the spies gave their account before all Israel and showed the visible evidence of the land's goodness. The fruit confirmed God's promise; the words that followed would distort it. The communal hearing made the people accountable for how they responded.

Christ at the center

In the wilderness Christ is the water from the rock, the bronze serpent lifted up that the dying might look and live (John 3:14), and the star and scepter that Balaam saw rising out of Jacob.
