Quick answer

Abidan son of Gideoni is appointed for Benjamin. Each of Jacob's sons' tribes is represented.

Overview

Benjamin, Jacob's youngest son, receives its leader in the orderly roll. The tribe would later produce King Saul and the apostle Paul (Phil. 3:5). God's careful inclusion of every tribe shows that none is forgotten in His covenant purposes.

Christ at the center

In the wilderness Christ is the water from the rock, the bronze serpent lifted up that the dying might look and live (John 3:14), and the star and scepter that Balaam saw rising out of Jacob.
