Quick answer

The anointed priest who succeeds him offers it, wholly burned to the LORD by perpetual statute. The priest's offering is given entirely to God.

Overview

Each succeeding high priest must continue this offering, and unlike the people's meal offering, it is wholly burned rather than partly eaten. The priest keeps no portion of his own offering, signifying total devotion before God. This complete self-giving anticipates Christ, who offered Himself entirely to God on our behalf.

Christ at the center

Every sacrifice, every priest, and every day of atonement points beyond itself to the one perfect offering and the great High Priest who, by his own blood, makes the unclean holy once for all.

How Leviticus 6:22 points to him is part of the one story that runs through all Scripture — meet Jesus at the heart of the web, or follow a trail that traces him from Genesis to Revelation.
