Quick answer
God reassures Joshua not to fear and promises to deliver Ai, its king, and its land into Israel's hand. Restored fellowship brings renewed assurance of victory.
Overview
With the sin of Achan purged, God renews his commission to Joshua with the familiar charge not to be afraid. The promise that Ai is already 'given' into Israel's hand grounds their action in God's prior gift, not their own strength. This pattern of God commanding what he has already guaranteed runs through Scripture and finds its fullness in the certain victory believers have through Christ.
