Overview
The waters had stood heaped up the entire time the priests bore the ark in the riverbed, and they returned the instant the priests stepped out. The timing makes clear that God, not nature, controlled the river. As with the Red Sea, God opens a way of salvation and then closes it, displaying His total sovereignty over creation.
