Overview
This is an early mention of Jerusalem, here still held by the Jebusites and lying on the border between Judah and Benjamin. The Valley of Hinnom would later become a place of idolatrous horror and a byword for judgment (Gehenna). Yet this same city would become the place of God's chosen dwelling, of David's throne, and of Christ's death and resurrection.
