Overview
Jehoiachin is to be recorded as childless regarding the throne: no descendant of his would reign in Judah, and the monarchy effectively ended. This poses a striking tension with the Davidic promise, which faithful Christians see resolved in Christ, who descended from David yet, according to Matthew's genealogy, comes through Jehoiachin's line by legal descent through Joseph while being virgin-born.
