Quick answer

Those who delight in the Lord will rejoice in Him and inherit the blessings promised to Jacob. Joy in God leads to His sure inheritance.

Overview

God promises that delighting in Him brings exalted joy and the heritage of Jacob, guaranteed by His own spoken word. The reward of Sabbath delight is fuller delight in the Lord Himself. This anticipates the believer's inheritance in Christ, in whom all God's promises are Yes and Amen, and who is Himself the supreme joy of His people.

Christ at the center

Isaiah sees him most clearly: the virgin's son Immanuel, the child on David's throne, the shoot from Jesse, the light to the nations, and above all the Suffering Servant pierced for our transgressions (ch. 53).

How Isaiah 58:14 points to him is part of the one story that runs through all Scripture — meet Jesus at the heart of the web, or follow a trail that traces him from Genesis to Revelation.
