Quick answer

God brings his righteousness and salvation near without delay, granting salvation to Zion. Deliverance is close at hand and is God's gift.

Overview

To the stubborn-hearted God promises that his righteousness and salvation are not far off but near and certain. Salvation is something he 'grants,' centered on Zion for his glory. The nearness and freeness of this salvation foreshadow the gospel, where God's righteousness draws near in Christ to all who believe.

Christ at the center

Isaiah sees him most clearly: the virgin's son Immanuel, the child on David's throne, the shoot from Jesse, the light to the nations, and above all the Suffering Servant pierced for our transgressions (ch. 53).

How Isaiah 46:13 points to him is part of the one story that runs through all Scripture — meet Jesus at the heart of the web, or follow a trail that traces him from Genesis to Revelation.
