Quick answer

The LORD, Redeemer who formed Israel from the womb, declares He alone made all things and stretched out the heavens by Himself. It affirms God's sole creative power as the ground of redemption.

Overview

God links His role as Redeemer with His unshared work of creation. He alone spread out the heavens and earth, needing no helper. This declaration that the Creator is also the Redeemer assures His people that the One with power to make all things can surely save them, as He does in Christ.

Christ at the center

Isaiah sees him most clearly: the virgin's son Immanuel, the child on David's throne, the shoot from Jesse, the light to the nations, and above all the Suffering Servant pierced for our transgressions (ch. 53).

How Isaiah 44:24 points to him is part of the one story that runs through all Scripture — meet Jesus at the heart of the web, or follow a trail that traces him from Genesis to Revelation.
