Quick answer

God will so judge Zion's oppressors that all flesh will know Him as her Savior, Redeemer, and the Mighty One of Jacob.

Overview

In vivid imagery of self-destruction, the oppressors fall, and the result is universal recognition of Yahweh as Savior and Redeemer. The titles emphasize God's role in rescuing His people at His own cost. He is supremely revealed as Savior and Redeemer in Christ, through whom all flesh comes to know His delivering power.

Christ at the center

Isaiah sees him most clearly: the virgin's son Immanuel, the child on David's throne, the shoot from Jesse, the light to the nations, and above all the Suffering Servant pierced for our transgressions (ch. 53).

How Isaiah 49:26 points to him is part of the one story that runs through all Scripture — meet Jesus at the heart of the web, or follow a trail that traces him from Genesis to Revelation.
