Quick answer

He will not be buried with honor because he ruined his land and slaughtered his people, and his evil descendants will be forgotten. His dynasty is cut off entirely.

Overview

The tyrant's violence against his own people forfeits him an honored grave, and his wicked line is doomed to oblivion. Scripture often shows that the name of the wicked perishes while the righteous are remembered. This judgment on an evil dynasty contrasts with the everlasting throne promised to David's greater Son.

Christ at the center

Isaiah sees him most clearly: the virgin's son Immanuel, the child on David's throne, the shoot from Jesse, the light to the nations, and above all the Suffering Servant pierced for our transgressions (ch. 53).

How Isaiah 14:20 points to him is part of the one story that runs through all Scripture — meet Jesus at the heart of the web, or follow a trail that traces him from Genesis to Revelation.
