Quick answer

Abimelech and his commander acknowledge that God is with Abraham in all he does. The pagan king recognizes God's evident blessing on Abraham.

Overview

Abimelech, having seen God's protection of Abraham, openly confesses that the Lord prospers him in everything. This testimony from an outsider confirms that God's covenant blessing on Abraham was visible to the nations. Such recognition foreshadows the promise that through Abraham's seed all peoples would be blessed, a promise ultimately fulfilled in Christ.

Christ at the center

From the first promise that the seed of the woman would crush the serpent (3:15), through Abraham's blessing to all nations and Judah's coming ruler, Genesis sows every seed that flowers in Christ — the true offspring, the better Adam, the ram caught for Isaac.
