Quick answer

God promises that if Israel diligently obeys His voice and commands, He will keep from them the diseases He put on Egypt, for He is 'Yahweh who heals you.'

Overview

At Marah God reveals Himself as the LORD their healer, binding His care to covenant obedience. The promise is set within Israel's particular covenant context, not an unconditional guarantee against all illness for every believer. Yet it reveals God's heart as the Healer, ultimately and fully expressed in Christ, who heals body and soul.

Christ at the center

The Passover lamb whose blood turns away death, the exodus through the sea, the manna, the rock, and the tabernacle where God dwells with his people all foreshadow Jesus — our Passover, our redemption, the bread from heaven, and God-with-us in the flesh.

How Exodus 15:26 points to him is part of the one story that runs through all Scripture — meet Jesus at the heart of the web, or follow a trail that traces him from Genesis to Revelation.
