Quick answer

Solomon asked God to forgive, teach them the good way, and send rain on the land. He sought both pardon and renewed instruction and provision.

Overview

Solomon prayed that God would forgive the repentant, instruct them in righteous living, and restore the rain. He recognized that true restoration includes God teaching his people to walk rightly. This longing for God to teach and provide anticipates the new covenant promise of God writing his law on hearts, fulfilled through Christ and the Spirit.
