Quick answer

There was such great joy in Jerusalem as had not been seen since the days of Solomon. It matters because the celebration rivaled the high point of Israel's worship.

Overview

By comparing this Passover to the days of Solomon, the Chronicler signals an extraordinary revival of national worship and joy. Hezekiah's reform recalled Israel's golden age of devotion to God. Such peak gladness foreshadows the surpassing joy of the kingdom Christ inaugurates, greater than Solomon's.
