Quick answer
Amaziah organized and mustered a large army of 300,000 chosen men from Judah and Benjamin. He prepared militarily for the campaigns ahead.
Overview
The careful census and organization under captains showed competent leadership and significant resources. Such preparation was reasonable, yet the following verses reveal Amaziah's temptation to trust in numbers and hired strength. The narrative will test whether he relies on the LORD or on his own military power.
