Quick answer

From the time Amaziah turned from the LORD, a conspiracy arose, and he was pursued to Lachish and killed. His apostasy led directly to his violent downfall.

Overview

The Chronicler explicitly links the conspiracy to Amaziah's turning away from following the LORD. His flight to Lachish and death there fulfilled the judgment foretold by the prophet. The account underscores that abandoning God brings ruin, while faithfulness is the only secure path.
