Overview
This verse clarifies that Baasha was guilty not only of Jeroboam-like idolatry but also for the bloodshed by which he destroyed Jeroboam's line. Though that destruction fulfilled prophecy, Baasha acted from his own wicked motives and so bore guilt for it, much as Assyria and Babylon would later be judged for executing God's judgments cruelly. The verse shows that God can use sinful human acts to accomplish His purposes while still holding the actors accountable for their hearts.
