Quick answer

When you sin against fellow believers by wounding their weak conscience, you sin against Christ Himself. To harm a brother is to offend the Lord who loves him.

Overview

Paul identifies sins against weak believers as sins against Christ, for Christ so unites Himself with His people that to wound them is to wound Him (cf. Acts 9:4-5). This elevates the seemingly minor matter of food to a question of loyalty to the Lord. The believer's union with Christ means that loveless conduct toward the body of Christ is an offense against the Head Himself.
