Quick answer

David confesses that riches, honor, power, and might all come from God, who alone makes people great and gives strength.

Overview

Every resource the people just offered is acknowledged as having come from God's own hand, so giving is simply returning his gifts. This humbling truth undercuts any boasting and roots human strength and status in divine generosity. It anticipates Paul's question, 'What do you have that you did not receive?' (1 Corinthians 4:7), and calls God's people to grateful dependence.
