Quick answer

David urged the leaders to set their heart and soul to seek the LORD and build the sanctuary to house the ark and holy vessels. Wholehearted devotion was to drive the work.

Overview

David called for inward devotion, set your heart and your soul, as the foundation for the outward task of building. The temple's purpose was to house the ark of the covenant, the sign of God's presence among His people. This union of heartfelt seeking and faithful building reminds believers that genuine worship engages the whole person in pursuit of God.
