Quick answer

David promised Solomon prosperity if he carefully obeyed God's statutes, urging him to be strong, courageous, and unafraid. Obedience and courage were the path to success.

Overview

Echoing God's charge to Joshua, David linked Solomon's prosperity to faithful obedience to the law given through Moses. The call to be strong and courageous, without fear or dismay, anchors confidence in God rather than circumstances. This enduring biblical encouragement reminds believers that faithfulness to God's word, undergirded by His presence, is the way of blessing.
