The Mountain of God

Where heaven meets earth, again and again.

On a mountain Abraham offers his son and God provides; on Sinai God descends in fire to give his law; Zion becomes the place of his presence; on a mountain Jesus is transfigured in glory; on a hill called Calvary he is lifted up — and the redeemed come at last to Mount Zion, the city of the living God.
  1. 1

On the mountain it will be provided

    Genesis 22:2

He said, “Now take your son, your only son, whom you love, even Isaac, and go into the land of Moriah. Offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains which I will tell you of.”

Abraham offers Isaac on Moriah; God provides.
  2. 2

    God descends on Sinai

    Exodus 19:20

Yahweh came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain. Yahweh called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.

The LORD comes down in fire to give his law.
  3. 3

    The hill of the LORD

    Psalms 24:3

Who may ascend to Yahweh’s hill? Who may stand in his holy place?

"Who shall ascend the hill of the LORD?"
  4. 4

    Transfigured in glory

    Matthew 17:2

He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his garments became as white as the light.

Jesus shines on the mountain before his disciples.
  5. 5

You have come to Mount Zion

    Hebrews 12:22

But you have come to Mount Zion, and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable multitudes of angels,

The redeemed come to the heavenly city of the living God.
