Quick answer

God will strengthen His people so they walk through life in His name, under His authority and presence. It matters because the goal of restoration is a life lived continually in and for the LORD.

Overview

The chapter closes with the promise of inner strengthening 'in Yahweh' and a manner of life conducted 'in his name'—that is, belonging to Him and reflecting His character. To 'walk up and down' in His name pictures secure, settled, everyday faithfulness. For Christians this is fulfilled as believers, strengthened by His Spirit, do all things in the name of the Lord Jesus (Col. 3:17; Phil. 4:13).

Christ at the center

The Branch who is both priest and king, the shepherd struck and the flock scattered, the king coming humble on a donkey, the one they pierced, the fountain opened for sin — Zechariah is dense with Christ.

How Zechariah 10:12 points to him is part of the one story that runs through all Scripture — meet Jesus at the heart of the web, or follow a trail that traces him from Genesis to Revelation.
