Quick answer

The bride asks to be set as a seal on her beloved's heart, for love is as strong as death and burns with a divine flame. This is the book's climactic statement on the power of love.

Overview

A seal marked permanent ownership and belonging, so the bride longs to be inseparably his. Love is here declared as strong as death and fierce as the grave, its 'flame of Yahweh' suggesting a love that comes from God himself. This verse rises to the book's high point, and it points beyond human love to the unquenchable, stronger-than-death love of God supremely shown in Christ.
