Quick answer

He declares it is time for God to act, because people are breaking His law. Widespread lawlessness calls for God's intervention.

Overview

Grieved by rampant disregard for God's law, the psalmist calls on God to step in and act. His zeal is for God's honor, not merely his own relief. This cry for God to vindicate His own name and righteousness anticipates the day when Christ will return to judge and set all things right (2 Thess. 1:7-8; Ps. 102:13).

Christ at the center

The Psalms are Christ's own prayer book and a gallery of his portraits — the suffering one of Psalm 22, the risen Lord of Psalm 16, the priest-king of Psalm 110, the Son to whom the nations are given.

How Psalms 119:126 points to him is part of the one story that runs through all Scripture — meet Jesus at the heart of the web, or follow a trail that traces him from Genesis to Revelation.
