Quick answer

The instruction aims to ground you in dependable truth so you can answer truthfully to those who rely on you.

Overview

Wisdom equips a person to be trustworthy in word, giving sound and accurate answers. Such reliability serves both the student and those who depend on his report. This love of truth reflects the character of God, who cannot lie, and points to Christ, who is Himself "the truth" (John 14:6).

Christ at the center

Wisdom personified, with God before creation and the agent of all things, anticipates Christ 'in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom' — the wisdom of God made flesh.

How Proverbs 22:21 points to him is part of the one story that runs through all Scripture — meet Jesus at the heart of the web, or follow a trail that traces him from Genesis to Revelation.
