Quick answer

God suddenly summons Moses, Aaron, and Miriam to the Tent of Meeting. The LORD himself will judge the dispute.

Overview

Without delay God calls the three siblings to the Tent of Meeting. The suddenness signals the seriousness with which God treats the challenge to Moses. God steps in directly to settle the matter rather than leaving it to human argument.

Christ at the center

In the wilderness Christ is the water from the rock, the bronze serpent lifted up that the dying might look and live (John 3:14), and the star and scepter that Balaam saw rising out of Jacob.
