Quick answer

In the latter days the LORD's temple mountain will be exalted above all, and peoples will stream to it. It opens a great prophecy of future glory and worship.

Overview

After the rubble of chapter 3, Micah lifts his eyes to 'the latter days' when God's dwelling will be lifted high and nations will flow to it like a river. This vision, paralleled in Isaiah 2, points to the worldwide gathering of peoples to worship God. Christians see its fulfillment beginning in the gospel age, as the nations come to God through Christ, and consummated in the new creation.

Christ at the center

Micah names the town — 'But you, Bethlehem... from you shall come forth one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose origins are from of old' — the birthplace of the eternal King.

How Micah 4:1 points to him is part of the one story that runs through all Scripture — meet Jesus at the heart of the web, or follow a trail that traces him from Genesis to Revelation.
