Quick answer
The council judges Jesus guilty of blasphemy and worthy of death. They condemn the innocent Son of God.
Overview
Having heard Jesus' confession, the leaders unanimously sentence him to death. From their standpoint his claim was blasphemous; in truth it was the very confession that should have led them to worship. The verdict against the sinless one foreshadows the great exchange of the cross, where the righteous dies for the unrighteous.
