Quick answer

Nothing hidden will stay concealed; all will be brought to light. God's truth and final judgment will expose all things.

Overview

Jesus declares that what is now hidden will be revealed, both the unfolding of His Kingdom and the future disclosure at judgment. Nothing escapes God's sight. This both encourages disciples to be faithful and warns that secret sin and unbelief will not remain hidden.

Christ at the center

Luke shows Jesus the Savior for all — outsiders, the poor, the nations — the one who, on the Emmaus road, opened all the Scriptures to show they were about himself.

How Luke 8:17 points to him is part of the one story that runs through all Scripture — meet Jesus at the heart of the web, or follow a trail that traces him from Genesis to Revelation.
