Quick answer

Even in exile God will not utterly reject or destroy Israel or break His covenant, for He is their God. His covenant love is unbreakable.

Overview

This is one of the great assurances of Scripture: despite all the curses, God will not annihilate His people or annul His covenant. His faithfulness rests on His own character, 'for I am Yahweh their God.' This steadfast love guarantees the survival of a remnant and finds its fullest expression in the new covenant secured by Christ.

Christ at the center

Every sacrifice, every priest, and every day of atonement points beyond itself to the one perfect offering and the great High Priest who, by his own blood, makes the unclean holy once for all.

How Leviticus 26:44 points to him is part of the one story that runs through all Scripture — meet Jesus at the heart of the web, or follow a trail that traces him from Genesis to Revelation.
