Quick answer
Yahweh gave them rest on every side, and no enemy could stand before them. It shows God granting the promised peace and victory.
Overview
The rest God gave Israel was the fruit of His own victory, for He delivered every enemy into their hand. This rest, however, was not yet final, as the later struggles in Judges reveal. Hebrews 4 teaches that the true and lasting rest is found in Christ, of which Joshua's rest was only a shadow.
