Quick answer

A third lowland group lists Libnah, Ether, and Ashan. More Shephelah towns are recorded.

Overview

Libnah was another royal city Joshua captured (Joshua 10:29-30) and later a priestly city; it once revolted against Judah's king (2 Kings 8:22). Ether and Ashan were shared with Simeon's allotment. These towns anchored Judah's western frontier.

Christ at the center

Joshua — the same name as Jesus, 'the LORD saves' — leads God's people into their inheritance, a shadow of the greater Joshua who brings us into the true rest and the promised land that remains.

How Joshua 15:42 points to him is part of the one story that runs through all Scripture — meet Jesus at the heart of the web, or follow a trail that traces him from Genesis to Revelation.
